Advancing Intensive Care Medicine with Data-Driven Research

Mission

Our Vision

Through our EU-funded research projects we are focused on using data to improve healthcare and to advance the field of medical data science.

By bringing together experts from a variety of disciplines, we can develop innovative solutions that can make a real difference for patients and medical professionals alike. We explore the potentials and obstacles for the use of electronic health records, analytical tools, and predictive models to provide data-driven healthcare.
Our ongoing research includes the collection of continuous vital and machine parameters for advanced patient monitoring and predictive modeling, brain-computer interfaces for patients with neurological disorders, and the development of dashboards to manage specialized healthcare resources nationwide.

We are committed to facilitating future research and aim to achieve standards and interoperability of medical data.

Our team is focused on improving patient care and safety, and we strive to work together to achieve our goals. We are excited to see the impact of our work, as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in intensive care medicine.

Meet the Team

We are the Data Science Group Frankfurt

We are committed to using Big Data and machine learning to enhance the field of medicine and critical care.

Our work focuses on the people involved and affected – the patients, clinicians, and scientists. Our goal is to unleash the potential of modern technologies at every bedside and especially in the intensive care unit. Improving patient safety and reducing the burden on the medical staff are interrelated objectives of our scientific work. By focusing on these objectives, we aim to improve the overall quality of healthcare and ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Through our research, we seek to develop effective solutions to common challenges in the medical field. By conducting rigorous, evidence-based research, we aim to make a positive impact on the field of medicine and improve patient outcomes.
Imagine keeping an eye on over 200 technical parameters in the ICU, for up to thirty patients at the same time, and simultaneously connecting them to the diverse characteristics and clinical histories humans can have. Imagine doing so for multiple hours, sometimes several nights in a row. And now try to identify a pattern of clinical values that indicate vicious biological processes in the bodies of your critically ill patients.
The good news is: Computers could help us do this! They can constantly analyze a multitude of data, put it into complex contexts and distill out these fatal patterns. They can alert the doctor, ensuring timely medical intervention and – help save lives!
With this vision in mind, we exploit the multifaceted alloy of talents in our team to create innovative research solutions and life-saving applications for the medicine of tomorrow.
